“Praised be Jesus Christ”

You are very welcome to our website. We, the Poor Clare Sisters of College Road, Cork, are part of the Franciscan family, followers of St. Francis of Assisi, and we are so pleased that our Holy Father Pope Francis has taken the name of Francis!

St. Francis inspired and guided St. Clare who founded our Order of Sisters in Italy in 1212. Our monastery here in Cork was founded in 1914.

As enclosed Sisters, dedicated to the contemplative life, we assure you of our prayers. May God bless and protect you this day.

We hope you enjoy our website, where you can read about St. Clare, St. Francis and St. Colette, about how Poor Clare life started in Cork, how we spend our day and more!

May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Pope Francis' Prayer

for Our Lady's Help and Protection

O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and hope.
We rely on you, Health of the Sick.
You, who at the foot of the Cross, united with Jesus' pain, keeping steadfast your faith.
You, our Mother, know what we need, and we are sure that you will provide for us, as at Cana of Galilee.
May joy and celebration return after this trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do what we are told by Jesus,
Who has taken our suffering on Himself and has burdened Himself with our sorrows,
to lead us through the cross to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God, despise not our petitions in our necessities
but deliver us from all evil, O ever glorious and blessed Virgin.
