Statement from the Poor Clare Sisters, College Road, Cork
on the occasion of the launch of the NBSCCCI Review
In September 2015, we, the Poor Clare Sisters, Cork, invited the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (NBSCCCI) to review our Community’s child safeguarding policy and practice. Today we publish the NBSCCCI’s Report and we welcome and accept its recommendations. We thank the staff in the National Office for their very important work.
As a contemplative community we pray fervently on a daily basis for the wellbeing and protection of children and particularly for healing for those who have suffered abuse. We are deeply saddened that so many children suffered very serious harm as a result of abuse. We are committed to safeguarding children and to working with the NBSCCCI to further improve our practice.

Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles BrownHomily notes of Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Charles J Brown for Mass celebrating the Eucharistic Procession in Cork
O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine.
It is indeed a great pleasure for me to be here in Cork this afternoon to take part in this historic Corpus Christi procession. In a special way, I want to thank Bishop John Buckley for having invited me to be with you today. And what a joy it is to carry the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of this beautiful city. Throughout the Catholic world today on this Solemnity of Corpus Christi, there are processions of the Blessed Sacrament. These processions, some of which date back hundreds of years, are an expression of our Catholic faith in Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist.
